TikTok Spark Ads let you pay to show a real TikTok post, from your own account or from a creator's account, to more people as an ad. Instead of uploading a separate ad that lives only inside Ads Manager, you boost a video that already exists on a profile. Every view, like, comment, share and follow the ad earns stays on that original post.
That small difference changes how the ad feels to viewers. It looks and behaves like any other video in the For You feed, with a real handle, real comments and a profile people can tap through to. For a cosmetics shop working with a beauty creator, a restaurant boosting its best food video, or a training centre promoting a student's success story, that native feel often matters more than polished production.
Spark Ads also add steps that regular ads do not have: authorization codes, creator agreements, music rights and disclosure rules. Skip those, and the ad gets rejected or stops running in the middle of a campaign.
This guide explains how the format works, when to use it, how to get a creator's code, how to set up the campaign in TikTok Ads Manager, what to budget, and how to judge results.
What TikTok Spark Ads Are
TikTok offers two broad ways to run in-feed video ads. With a regular in-feed ad, sometimes called a non-Spark ad, you upload a video into Ads Manager and give it a display name and profile picture. It appears in the feed as an ad but does not exist as a post on any profile. With Spark Ads, the ad is an existing public post, shown under the real account that published it.
TikTok's own help article about Spark Ads describes the format as a way to use organic posts in ads. You may also see people search for it as "Tik Tok Spark ad", but the product is the same.
| Point | Spark Ads | Regular in-feed ads |
|---|---|---|
| Where the video lives | As a public post on a real profile | Only inside Ads Manager |
| Name shown | The real account's handle and photo | A display name and image you set |
| Likes, comments and follows | Added to the original post and account | Stay with the ad only |
| Permission needed | Yes, from the post owner | No, you own the upload |
| Best for | Native content, creators, social proof | Fast testing of many edits |
Both formats can carry a call-to-action button and a link, and both can use the same campaign objectives.

Why Spark Ads Often Work Better Than Regular Ads
TikTok rewards videos that feel like TikTok. A post that already earned likes and comments organically shows viewers that other people found it worth watching. A brand-new ad with zero engagement and a generic display name does not have that advantage.
Spark Ads also build something that lasts after the campaign ends. Follows go to a real account, so the people you paid to reach can see your future posts for free. The likes and comments make the post look more credible to organic viewers too. With regular ads, all of that engagement disappears when the ad stops.
There is a creator angle as well. People in Bangladesh often trust a familiar food reviewer, tech reviewer or beauty creator more than a brand account. A creator's video about your product, boosted as a Spark Ad, reaches beyond their followers while still sounding like them.
None of this guarantees better numbers. A weak video stays weak when you pay to show it. But when you already have content that works organically, Spark Ads let you scale it without remaking it as an ad.
Two Ways to Use TikTok Spark Ads
Boosting your own posts
If your brand has its own TikTok account, you can link it to Ads Manager and use its posts as Spark Ads. This suits businesses that post regularly: a clothing shop showing new arrivals, a restaurant filming dishes, a coaching centre posting short study tips. Once the account is linked with the right permissions, you can pick posts without asking for a code each time.
Use a business account for this. Our comparison of TikTok business and personal accounts explains why the business type is the safer choice for a company, including its access to music cleared for commercial use.
Boosting a creator's posts
When a creator posts about your product, they can authorize you to run that post as an ad. The creator generates a code in the TikTok app and sends it to you. You enter the code in Ads Manager, and the video becomes available as a Spark Ad for the period the creator chose.
The ad still shows the creator's handle. Clicks on the profile go to their account, and new follows go to them, not to you. That is the trade: you borrow their credibility, and they gain reach. Make sure the call-to-action button and link point to your website, store or lead form so the ad still sends people your way.
Before You Start: Accounts, Music and Disclosure
A few checks before launch save a lot of rejected ads. Start with the accounts:
- A TikTok Ads Manager account owned by your business, with payment set up. Our TikTok Ads Manager setup guide for Bangladesh walks through it.
- A Business Center if an agency or several staff will work on the account, so access can be given and removed cleanly.
- The TikTok Pixel on your website if you want to track sales or leads. TikTok's help page about the TikTok Pixel explains what it records.
- A landing page that loads quickly on mobile data and matches what the video promised.
Then check the content itself.
Music rights
Ads need sound that is cleared for commercial use. Business accounts are limited to TikTok's Commercial Music Library for this reason. A creator's post with a popular chart song may be fine as a personal post but may not be approved as an ad. When you brief creators, ask them to use commercially licensed sounds, original audio or voice-over if the post might become a Spark Ad.
Branded content disclosure
When a creator is paid or gets free products to post about a brand, TikTok expects them to turn on the content disclosure setting so the post is marked as a paid partnership. TikTok's Branded Content Policy sets out the rules, including products that cannot be promoted this way. Undisclosed paid posts can be removed, which ends the ad too.
Ad policy
Spark Ads go through the same review as any TikTok ad. Health claims, before-and-after promises, financial offers and restricted products get extra scrutiny. TikTok's ad review best practices and our TikTok advertising policy guide list the common reasons ads are rejected.
How to Get an Authorization Code From a Creator
The creator does this part in the TikTok mobile app. Menu names change between app versions, but the steps usually look like this:
- Open the TikTok app, go to the profile menu, and find the ad settings in the creator or business tools section.
- Turn on ad authorization for the account.
- Open the video, tap the more options button, and choose the ad settings for that post.
- Turn on ad authorization for the video and choose how long it lasts.
- Generate the code, copy it, and send it to the brand.
Authorization periods come in set lengths, from about a week up to a year.
Agree on the period before the creator generates the code. If your campaign runs for a month, a 7-day code means asking again halfway through. A long authorization is convenient for you, but many creators want extra payment for longer usage, which is fair.
The creator stays in control. They can cancel the authorization, and if they delete the video or make it private, the ad stops. That is why the usage terms belong in a written agreement, not only in a chat message.

How to Run TikTok Spark Ads in Ads Manager
Ads Manager menus change from time to time, so treat these as the order of decisions rather than exact button names. First, add the post and set up the campaign:
- Add the post: use your linked account, or enter the creator's code in the TikTok posts section of your creative assets and confirm the authorization.
- Create a campaign and choose an objective, such as Traffic, Lead Generation, Website Conversions or Video Views.
- Set the campaign budget, or leave it at ad group level while testing.
- In the ad group, choose placements, the location (Bangladesh or specific areas), age, language and interests or behaviors.
Then set the budget, bidding and the ad itself:
- Set the daily budget, schedule and bid strategy. The default bidding is usually fine for a first test.
- At the ad level, turn on Spark Ads (TikTok calls this using a TikTok account to deliver the ad) and select the authorized post.
- Add the call to action and destination URL, ideally with UTM tags, then submit for review.
Review usually takes up to a day.
Use UTM tags on the destination URL so your analytics tool can separate Spark Ads traffic from other TikTok traffic. Google's campaign URL builder shows how to build them. For targeting, start broad within Bangladesh and let the creative do the filtering, then narrow only if the results show a clear pattern.
If you would rather hand the setup to a team, our TikTok ads management service covers account setup, creator codes, tracking and campaign builds.
Choosing Which Posts to Boost
The best Spark Ad candidates are usually posts that already did well without money behind them. Organic results tell you the hook works and the content holds attention. Look at watch time, completion rate, shares and comments, not just view count. A video with modest views but strong completion often makes a better ad than a viral video that people skipped after two seconds.
Beyond the numbers, check each post against a short list:
- Clear hook: the first two seconds show the product, the problem or the result.
- Visible product: viewers can see what is being sold, not just a trend or a joke.
- Readable without sound: captions or on-screen text carry the message.
- Cleared audio: the music is licensed for commercial use, or the voice carries the video.
- Still accurate: prices, offers and stock shown in the video are current.
- Healthy comments: the comment section is not full of complaints you cannot answer.
A post that passes all six is ready to test.
Language matters too. In Bangladesh, a Bangla voice-over or Bangla captions often feel more natural than English-only text for local audiences, while English may suit export, IT or premium products. Test both if you are unsure.
If you have good raw footage but no strong posts yet, a professional edit can help. Our video editing service turns phone footage into native-looking TikTok posts, and our video ad editing service prepares short versions with an early hook and captions, ready to post and then boost.

Which Businesses Get the Most From Spark Ads
The format suits some businesses far better than others. The common thread is content that people would watch even if it were not an ad. Here is how it usually plays out for different types of business in Bangladesh:
- Online fashion, cosmetics and gadget shops: a strong fit. Try-ons, unboxings and honest reviews are exactly what TikTok viewers watch.
- Restaurants, cafes and home food businesses: a good fit for reach and footfall, since food videos travel well.
- Coaching centres and training institutes: useful for short tips, student stories and admission reminders, with a lead form behind the button.
- Clinics and health services: possible, but health claims face strict review, so keep videos informational.
- B2B suppliers and factories: usually a weak fit for direct sales, though behind-the-scenes clips can help with hiring and brand awareness.
If your business sits in the weaker groups, TikTok can still play a role. Just judge it by the right goal, such as awareness or job applications, rather than direct sales.
Working With Creators in Bangladesh
Many TikTok Spark Ads campaigns start with a creator. The partnership goes much more smoothly when both sides agree on the details before filming. A clear brief protects the brand, and a fair agreement protects the creator.
What a good creator brief includes
- The product or service, and the one message the video must get across.
- What must be shown, such as the product in use, the price or the delivery option.
- What must not be said, such as medical claims or comparisons with named competitors.
- Sound guidance: commercial music only, or original audio and voice-over.
- Whether the video needs your approval before posting.
Leave room for the creator's own style. Their audience follows them for how they talk, and a script that sounds like a TV commercial loses that.
What the agreement should cover
Fees for creators in Bangladesh vary widely with audience size, niche and the amount of work, so there is no standard rate to quote. Whatever you agree, write down the number of videos, the posting dates, the Spark Ads authorization period, whether you can also download and reuse the video elsewhere, how disclosure will be handled, and what happens if the creator deletes the post early.
Payment terms also matter. Many brands pay part on posting and part when the authorization code is delivered, so both sides have a reason to finish the job.
Budget and Bidding for TikTok Spark Ads
Spark Ads run in the same auction as other TikTok ads, so there is no separate price for the format. You set a daily or lifetime budget, and TikTok charges for impressions or results depending on your objective and bidding. TikTok also sets minimum daily budgets at campaign and ad group level, shown in your account's currency when you build the campaign.
On top of the media budget, Spark Ads often carry a content cost: creator fees, products sent for review, or editing time. Plan both together. A creator video that costs money to make but runs for a month as a strong ad can be cheaper per result than a free video that nobody watches.
Here is a simple example of how to judge a first test. The numbers are illustrations, not benchmarks:
| Item | Example |
|---|---|
| Ad spend over 14 days | BDT 20,000 |
| Creator fee for one video and code | BDT 8,000 |
| Website orders tracked by the Pixel | 40 |
| Total cost per order | BDT 700 |
| Average profit per order before ads | BDT 1,000 |
In this example the campaign earns money, but only because the content cost is counted honestly.

For a detailed look at monthly budgets, our guide to how much TikTok advertising costs per month breaks down the main factors. Start with a test budget you can afford to learn from, run it for at least a week, and then put more money behind the posts that bring results.

Measuring Spark Ads Results
Spark Ads produce two kinds of results, and you should track both. The first is paid performance: impressions, clicks, cost per click, and conversions such as orders or leads. The second is account growth: profile visits, follows, and engagement that stays on the post.
Watch these numbers in Ads Manager:
- 2-second and 6-second views: whether the hook stops people.
- Average watch time: whether the video holds attention.
- Click-through rate: whether the message makes people act.
- Cost per result: the number that decides whether to scale.
- Profile visits and follows: the lasting value Spark Ads add.
Read them in that order, because each one explains the next.
Then check the business side. Compare Pixel conversions with real orders in your store or real leads in your inbox. Cash on delivery orders that are later refused should be counted out. If the ad sends traffic to WhatsApp or a Facebook page instead of a website, track those chats with labels or a simple sheet so you know which ad produced them.
Ad fatigue arrives quickly on TikTok. When frequency rises and cost per result climbs, swap in a new post rather than raising the budget on a tired one.
A Two-Week Test Plan for TikTok Spark Ads
A first campaign should answer one question: which posts bring results at a cost you can live with? A short, structured test answers it faster than weeks of random boosting.
Days 1 to 3: prepare. Pick three to five candidate posts that pass the checklist above, from your own account, a creator or both. Collect any authorization codes, confirm the Pixel records test events, and build UTM-tagged links for each post so you can tell them apart later.
Days 4 to 10: run. Put the posts in one ad group with the same audience and an even budget, so they compete on equal terms. Check daily that spend is pacing and that conversions are recording, but do not judge winners yet. Reply to comments every day.
Days 11 to 14: decide. Compare cost per order or lead for each post, along with watch time and click-through rate. Pause the weakest, move budget to the best one or two, and ask the creator or your team for a new post in the same style. That new post becomes the challenger in your next test.
Write down what you learned each round: which hooks worked, which creators sold, which offers got clicks. After a few rounds, that record is worth more than any single ad.
Managing Comments on TikTok Spark Ads
Because Spark Ads are real posts, their comments are public and attached to the original video. That is the format's strength and its risk. Positive comments build trust for the next viewer. Unanswered questions or complaints sit right under your ad for everyone to see.
Plan who will watch the comments while the ad runs. On your own account, your team can reply, pin helpful answers and filter abusive words. On a creator's post, the creator controls the comments, so agree in advance how quickly they will reply to product questions or pass them to you.
Good replies are short and useful: the price, the delivery time, where to order. When a complaint appears, answer it politely in public and move the details to a private message. A visible, calm reply often does more for trust than a perfect ad.
Common TikTok Spark Ads Mistakes
Most problems with TikTok Spark Ads come from the setup around the ad, not from the format itself. These are the ones that show up most often:
- Short authorization periods. The code expires mid-campaign and the ad stops.
- Uncleared music. A great creator video gets rejected because of the song.
- No disclosure on paid creator posts. The post can be removed, taking the ad with it.
- Boosting posts with no product in them. Entertaining views that never turn into buyers.
- No tracking. Without the Pixel or UTM tags, you only know views and likes.
- Ignoring comments. Unanswered questions under an ad cost sales.
- Running one post for too long. Fatigue sets in, and costs rise.
Each of these is easy to prevent with a checklist before launch and a weekly review once the ad is running.
When to Use Spark Ads and When to Use Other Ads
Spark Ads are not the right choice for every campaign. They work best for native, people-led content: reviews, tutorials, behind-the-scenes clips, customer reactions. For fast creative testing with many variations of the same video, regular in-feed ads can be simpler, because you can upload edits without posting each one publicly.
Many brands use both. They test ten edits as regular ads, find the two that work best, post those on the brand account, and then run them as Spark Ads to build engagement. If TikTok is one channel among several, a plan that includes Meta ads helps too: our Facebook ads service and our multi-platform ads campaign service keep budgets and tracking in one place.
Finally, remember where the clicks land. A creator video can bring hundreds of interested people to your site in a day. If your store is slow or confusing on a phone, that traffic is wasted. A mobile-first online store with bKash and cash on delivery turns more of those visits into orders.
The same goes for posting rhythm. Spark Ads perform better when there is a steady stream of fresh posts to choose from, so plan a content calendar alongside your ad budget. Our TikTok advertising service can plan both together.
How Nexteio Can Help With TikTok Spark Ads
We run TikTok Spark Ads as part of our TikTok ads service for businesses across Bangladesh. That starts with the groundwork: setting up or checking your Ads Manager and Business Center, installing the TikTok Pixel, linking your brand account, and making sure the account and payment method belong to your business.
For creator campaigns, we help you write the brief, agree on authorization periods and disclosure, collect the codes, and check music and policy issues before anything goes to review. We then choose which posts to boost, build the campaigns with UTM tracking, and review results against real orders or leads, swapping posts as they tire. If you need content, our editing team can turn your raw footage into posts ready to boost.
Tell us about your product and your current TikTok activity through our project brief form, see examples in our portfolio, read more about Nexteio, or get in touch on our contact page. When you are ready, start a Spark Ads project or ask about our TikTok campaign management.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Spark Ads and boosting with Promote?
Promote is a simple tool inside the TikTok app for pushing your own video to more viewers with a few settings. Spark Ads run through TikTok Ads Manager, so you get full campaign objectives, targeting, bidding, Pixel tracking and the option to use creators' posts with their permission.
Do I need a creator to run TikTok Spark Ads?
No. You can run Spark Ads with posts from your own brand account once it is linked to Ads Manager. Creators are useful when their audience trusts them and their style suits your product, but many businesses start by boosting their own best posts.
How long does a Spark Ads authorization code last?
The creator chooses the length when generating the code, from set options that range from about a week up to a year. Agree on the period in writing before the code is made, and make sure it covers your whole campaign plus some extra time for a possible extension.
Why was my Spark Ad rejected?
Common reasons are music that is not cleared for commercial use, missing branded content disclosure on a paid creator post, and claims that break TikTok's ad policies, such as health promises. A landing page that does not match the video or does not work on mobile can also cause rejection.
Who gets the followers from a Spark Ad on a creator's post?
The creator does, because the ad shows their handle and links to their profile. Your gain comes from the call-to-action button, which sends people to your website, store or lead form. If growing your own account matters, also boost posts from your brand account.
Can I edit a video after it becomes a Spark Ad?
Not directly. The ad uses the post exactly as it was published, so changes mean posting a new version and getting new authorization if it belongs to a creator. Check captions, prices and offers carefully before the creator posts.
Can small businesses in Bangladesh run Spark Ads with a small budget?
Yes, as long as the budget meets TikTok's minimum daily amounts and runs long enough to collect useful data. A small business can start by boosting its own best post for a week or two, track orders or messages carefully, and only then add creators or more budget.
Are Spark Ads more expensive than regular TikTok ads?
They run in the same auction, so there is no extra charge for the format itself. The added cost usually comes from creator fees and content production. Judge them by total cost per order or lead, including those content costs, not by the ad spend alone.
