'How much do TikTok ads cost?' is usually the first question a shop owner asks, and the answers online are confusing. Some say you can start with a few hundred taka. Others quote figures in dollars that sound impossible for a small business in Bangladesh. Both can be partly true, because it depends on how you advertise.
This guide explains the real TikTok advertising cost per month: how the platform charges, the minimum budgets in Ads Manager, typical budget levels for Bangladeshi businesses, the extra costs people forget, and a simple way to work out your own budget from your product margins.
TikTok has no fixed monthly price
TikTok does not sell ads as a monthly package. You set a budget, and TikTok runs an auction each time someone scrolls. Depending on your goal, you are charged for impressions, clicks or results, and the price moves with competition.
That means the same budget can buy very different results in different months. Costs often rise before Eid, Pohela Boishakh and big online sale days, when many shops compete for the same viewers. A narrowly targeted audience usually costs more per view than a broad one. Weak videos that people skip also push your costs up, because TikTok has to show them to more people to get the same result.
Platform minimums: Promote vs Ads Manager
There are two ways to pay for TikTok ads, and they have very different starting points.
- Promote in the app: you boost a single video from your phone. It accepts small amounts and is useful for testing which organic videos people like. You get limited targeting and almost no tracking of sales.
- TikTok Ads Manager: the full advertising tool, with targeting, tracking and proper campaign control. It has minimum daily budgets.
At the time of writing, the TikTok Ads Help Center lists a minimum daily budget of 50 US dollars if you set the budget at campaign level, and 20 US dollars per ad group. You can skip the campaign budget and set it only on the ad group, so the practical floor is one ad group at about 20 dollars a day. Over a month that is roughly 600 dollars, or about 72,000 to 75,000 BDT depending on the exchange rate. Minimums can change, so check the current figures before planning.
Typical TikTok advertising cost per month for Bangladeshi businesses
The ranges below are rough guidance based on the platform minimums and what we see local businesses spend. They are not fixed prices, and your own numbers will decide what is sensible.
| Level | Monthly ad spend (rough) | What it is good for |
|---|---|---|
| Promote testing | 3,000 to 15,000 BDT | Finding out which organic videos get attention; building a few followers |
| Starter campaigns | 75,000 to 1,20,000 BDT | One or two ad groups, testing four to six videos, learning your real cost per order |
| Growth | 1,50,000 to 3,00,000 BDT | Several audiences, regular new videos, retargeting people who watched or visited |
| Scale | 3,00,000 BDT and above | Steady sales across many products, constant video production, seasonal pushes |
A small home business can stay at the Promote level for a while and still learn useful lessons. Once you want measurable orders from a website, you are realistically at the starter level or above.
The costs people forget
Ad spend is only part of your real TikTok advertising cost per month. These items often add 20 to 50 percent on top.
- Video production: TikTok audiences tire of the same video quickly. Most active accounts need several new videos every month, whether you film them yourself or pay someone.
- Management: your own time, a staff member, or an agency fee if you hire help.
- Bank charges: foreign card payments may carry exchange margins, fees and taxes. Ask your bank exactly what applies.
- Website and tracking: a fast product page and working pixel are needed to see which ads bring sales. If you have no proper shop yet, budget for an e-commerce website as a one-time cost.
- Order handling: confirmation calls, packaging and staff to reply to messages.
- Returns: for cash on delivery, refused parcels cost you courier charges and tie up stock.
How to work out your own monthly budget
Instead of copying someone else's budget, start from your product. Here is a worked example for an online shop that sells a 1,500 BDT item with cash on delivery. The figures are an example, not a benchmark.
- Product and packaging cost: 650 BDT, so you keep 850 BDT on each delivered order before ads.
- About 15 percent of parcels are refused, and each one costs around 100 BDT in courier charges.
- After returns, you keep roughly 830 BDT per delivered order before ads.
- You want at least 300 BDT profit per delivered order.
- So you can spend up to about 530 BDT on ads for each delivered order.
If you aim for 150 delivered orders a month, your ad budget can be up to about 150 x 530, or roughly 80,000 BDT. Now test whether TikTok can deliver at that cost. Suppose 1,000 impressions cost 150 BDT, 1 percent of viewers click, and 2.5 percent of visitors order. 80,000 BDT buys about 5,300 clicks and 133 orders, or around 113 delivered. That works out to about 710 BDT per delivered order, which is over your limit.
The fix is not always more money. If better videos and a faster product page lift the order rate to 3.5 percent, the same budget brings about 159 delivered orders at roughly 500 BDT each, which is inside your limit. This is why the landing page and the videos matter as much as the budget.
How to spend your first month's budget
- Week 1: set up Ads Manager, the pixel and purchase tracking. Prepare four to six short vertical videos with different opening hooks.
- Weeks 2 and 3: run one or two ad groups with a broad audience inside your delivery area. Do not split the budget into many tiny ad groups.
- Week 4: pause videos that bring clicks but no orders, and move the budget to the ones that sell. Replace the weakest videos with new ones.
- After that: raise budgets gradually, around 15 to 20 percent every few days, rather than doubling overnight.
Who you show ads to also changes your cost. Our guide to building a TikTok advertising audience profile shows how to target without making your audience so small that prices rise.
Mistakes that waste money
- Judging an ad after one or two days instead of a full week.
- Spreading a small budget across five or six ad groups so none of them gets enough data.
- Using the same video for months until people scroll past it.
- Counting dashboard purchases instead of delivered, paid orders.
- Sending traffic to a slow page or straight to the inbox with no price shown.
- Ignoring comments and messages, so interested buyers go elsewhere.
Video is the biggest lever on cost. If you can shoot on a phone but lack editing time, our video ads editing service can turn your clips into ready-to-run ads.
FAQ
Can I advertise on TikTok with 500 taka?
You can try Promote with a small amount to test a video. It will not tell you much about sales, but it can show which videos people watch. Proper Ads Manager campaigns need a larger budget because of the daily minimums.
Is TikTok cheaper than Facebook ads?
Sometimes the cost per view is lower, but that does not mean cheaper sales. Compare the cost per delivered order on both platforms with the same product before deciding.
Can I pay for TikTok ads in BDT?
TikTok usually bills in a foreign currency, so most advertisers use an international or dual-currency card. Some agencies accept BDT and pay on your behalf; ask about their exchange rate and fees.
Why did my costs jump during Eid?
More advertisers compete for the same viewers before big festivals, so auction prices rise. Plan for higher costs and start testing videos two to three weeks before the season.
