Few things are more frustrating than finishing a good video, setting a budget and seeing 'Rejected' an hour later. For advertisers in Bangladesh it often happens with products that sell easily through Facebook pages: skin care, weight-loss teas, 'earn from home' courses, or a shop whose website link does not load properly on mobile data.

TikTok checks every ad against its TikTok advertising policy, and repeated problems can limit or suspend the whole ad account. This guide explains how the review works, which products are banned or restricted, the mistakes behind most rejections, and what to do when an ad is turned down. Rules change and differ by country, so confirm anything sensitive in the TikTok Ads Help Center before you spend money on production.

How TikTok reviews an ad

When you submit an ad, it goes through automated checks and sometimes a human reviewer. The review looks at much more than the video itself.

  • The video and audio: what is shown, on-screen text, spoken words and music.
  • The ad text and display name: claims, spelling, symbols and whether the brand is clear.
  • The landing page: whether it loads, works on mobile and matches what the ad promises.
  • The account behind it: business details, payment history and past rejections.

Most reviews finish within a day, often much faster. Approval is not permanent. An ad can be rejected later if users report it or if the landing page changes after approval.

What the TikTok advertising policy bans or restricts

TikTok separates products that cannot be advertised at all from those that can be advertised only in certain countries, under conditions, or after approval. The table is a simplified overview to help you plan, not a complete legal list.

CategoryTypical statusExamples
Weapons, drugs, tobacco and vapesProhibitedFirearms, e-cigarettes, recreational drugs
Adult content and servicesProhibitedSexual products or suggestive services
Counterfeit goodsProhibitedCopies of branded bags, watches or shoes
Political contentNot allowed as paid adsParty or candidate promotion, election messages
GamblingProhibited or restricted by countryBetting sites, casino apps
Financial servicesRestrictedLoans, investment, crypto, income opportunities
Health productsRestrictedSupplements, weight-control products, medical services

Local law still applies. A product that passes TikTok review may also need permission or registration in Bangladesh, especially medicine, food and cosmetics. Being allowed on TikTok does not make an ad legal, and being legal does not mean TikTok will accept it.

The most common reasons ads get rejected

Most rejections we see are not about banned products. They come from how an ordinary product is presented.

Exaggerated or unrealistic claims

'Fair skin in 7 days', 'lose 10 kg in a month' or 'earn 50,000 taka a month from your phone' are classic rejection triggers. Replace promises with honest benefits: 'helps keep skin moisturised through winter' or 'a 6-week course on basic freelancing skills'. If you cannot prove a claim, leave it out.

Before-and-after images

Split screens showing dramatic weight loss, acne clearing or hair regrowth are not accepted for many health and beauty products. Show the product being used, the texture, the packaging and real customer comments about how it feels instead.

Ad and landing page do not match

If the video says 30 percent off and the website shows full price, or the ad shows one dress and the link opens the home page, the ad can be rejected. The product, price and offer should be the same in both places.

Misleading or low-quality creative

Fake play buttons, fake system alerts, blurry footage, stretched horizontal video and ads where it is unclear what is being sold all cause trouble. Shoot in vertical 9:16, keep the product visible and show your brand name. If your footage is fine but the edit is the problem, a video ads editing service can recut it into a clean, compliant ad.

Music you do not have rights to

Popular songs from the app's general library are not cleared for ads. Use the Commercial Music Library inside Ads Manager, your own voice, or music you have properly licensed.

Language that does not suit the audience

Ad text and audio are expected to suit the location you target. Bangla or English is normally fine for Bangladesh. Running an ad in a language your target audience does not use can cause a rejection.

Landing page rules that trip up advertisers

Many advertisers fix the video three times when the real problem is the website. Check your page against this list before submitting.

  • It loads quickly on mobile data and inside TikTok's in-app browser.
  • It is finished: no 'coming soon' sections, broken buttons or placeholder text.
  • The product, price and offer match the ad.
  • It shows real contact details: phone number, email and a business address or service area.
  • It has a privacy policy and clear delivery, return and refund information.
  • It does not force a download, open pop-ups or redirect to a different website.
  • It uses HTTPS and does not show security warnings.

For cash on delivery shops, state the delivery charge for inside and outside your city and explain what happens if a parcel is refused. This builds trust and also reduces returns. Our guide to a high-converting landing page shows how to lay out a page that sells. If your current site cannot do this, a simple e-commerce website is often a better base for ads than a free page builder.

Account-level problems and how to avoid them

Single ad rejections are normal and easy to fix. Account restrictions hurt more, because every campaign stops at once. They usually come from a pattern rather than one mistake.

  • Payment issues: failed card charges, a card name that does not match the business, or disputed charges.
  • Repeated violations: submitting the same rejected idea again and again with small changes.
  • Switching content after approval: changing the landing page to a different or riskier product once an ad is live.
  • Opening new accounts to avoid a ban: this is treated as getting around enforcement and can lead to all linked accounts being closed.
  • Unclear business details: a business name, website and documents that do not match each other.

Setting up Business Center and the ad account carefully at the start avoids many of these problems. Our guide to TikTok Ads Manager account setup walks through it.

What to do when an ad is rejected

  1. Read the exact reason. Open the ad in Ads Manager and check the status details. The reason usually points to the creative, the text or the landing page.
  2. Fix the cause, not the symptom. If the landing page is the issue, edit the page first. If a claim is the issue, remove or soften it in the video, captions and text.
  3. Resubmit once. Edited ads go back into review. Avoid uploading many copies of the same ad at once.
  4. Appeal if you believe it is a mistake. Write a short, polite explanation and attach proof where relevant, such as a trade licence or product registration.
  5. Keep a simple log. Note what was rejected, why and what fixed it. Over a few months this becomes your own policy checklist.

A TikTok advertising policy checklist before launch

  • Is the product allowed in Bangladesh, both on TikTok and under local law?
  • Can every claim in the video and text be supported?
  • Are there no before-and-after shots or fake buttons?
  • Is the music from the Commercial Music Library or your own?
  • Does the landing page match the offer and work on a phone?
  • Are contact details, privacy policy and return terms visible?

FAQ

How long does TikTok ad review take?

Often a few hours, and usually within a day. It can take longer during busy shopping seasons such as before Eid, or when the account has had recent problems.

Will one rejected ad hurt my account?

Not on its own. Occasional rejections are normal. Repeated violations of the same rule, or serious ones, are what lead to restrictions.

Can I advertise skin care products on TikTok?

Usually yes, if you avoid medical claims, skin-whitening promises and before-and-after images, and your landing page gives clear product and contact details.

Are online courses and earning programs allowed?

Real courses that teach a skill can usually be advertised. Ads that promise a fixed income or quick money are likely to be rejected under the TikTok advertising policy on misleading financial claims.
