Ecommerce website development in Bangladesh: what a store needs
Light, fast pages
We keep themes lean and images compressed so product pages open quickly on 4G, even on budget Android phones.
A checkout built for cash on delivery
Short forms that ask only for name, phone, district and address, with the delivery charge shown before the order is placed.
Local payments and couriers
bKash, Nagad and card payments through gateways such as SSLCommerz or aamarPay, and order handoff to couriers like Pathao, Steadfast or RedX where they offer an API.
Product pages Google can read
A clear category structure, original product descriptions, product schema and a sitemap, so search engines can find and understand your catalogue.
Ecommerce development services we offer
WooCommerce store development
A full store on WordPress with categories, product variations such as size and colour, stock control, coupons, delivery zones and order emails. It fits most fashion, cosmetics, gadget and grocery sellers. See our WordPress website service for more on the platform.
Store design and product page layout
Designs for the home page, category pages, product pages and cart, planned for mobile first. We focus on what buyers check before ordering: clear photos, size charts, delivery details, return policy and reviews.
Cash on delivery checkout setup
A one-page checkout, district and area selection, automatic delivery charges, and optional SMS or OTP confirmation to cut down fake orders before you pay the courier.
Custom stores with Laravel
For wholesale pricing, multi-vendor marketplaces, subscription boxes or links to accounting and inventory software, we build a custom store that follows your process instead of forcing you into a plugin's.
Six things we build into every store
1. Mobile-first layout
A sticky add-to-cart button, large tap targets, easy image swiping and a cart that is simple to edit on a small screen.
2. Page speed
Compressed WebP images, caching and only the scripts each page needs. We test on a mid-range phone, not only on a fast office connection.
3. A search-friendly catalogue
Logical categories, readable URLs, product schema and a sitemap submitted to Google Search Console.
4. Order and courier flow
Clear order statuses, printable invoices, and courier booking from the admin where the courier provides an API.
5. Security and backups
SSL, strong admin passwords, limited login attempts, regular updates and automatic off-site backups.
6. Sales tracking
Google Analytics 4 ecommerce events, the Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking, so you can see which ads lead to real orders.
Check your store's speed yourself
You can test any store with Google's free PageSpeed Insights tool. Run the mobile test on your home page and on one product page. If the main content takes more than three or four seconds to appear, buyers on mobile data may leave before they see your products. Google explains what each score means in its PageSpeed Insights documentation.
What an ecommerce website costs, and what changes the price
-
Number of products
Adding 50 products is a different job from importing 3,000 with variations. If your products are already in a spreadsheet, the import is faster and cheaper.
-
Design work
A customised theme costs less than a fully custom design. Both can look professional. Custom design makes more sense when your brand is a big part of what you sell.
-
Payment gateways
Each gateway needs a merchant account in your name, some paperwork and testing. bKash, Nagad and cards through one aggregator is a common setup.
-
Courier and SMS links
Automatic courier booking and SMS confirmations save staff time, but they add setup work and an ongoing SMS cost.
-
Content and photos
Product photos and descriptions written by you or by us. In our experience, good photos often matter more to sales than the design itself.
-
Running costs
Domain, hosting, SMS credits, gateway fees on each payment, and maintenance. Ask any developer to list these before you sign.
Questions to ask before hiring an ecommerce developer
Who will own the store?
The domain, hosting account, code and admin access should all be in your business name. Avoid any deal where the developer keeps control of the domain.
Can I try stores you have built?
Open them on your phone, add a product to the cart and go to checkout. That tells you more about the work than screenshots or a slide deck.
What happens after launch?
Ask who updates plugins, who fixes problems, how quickly they respond and what that costs per month. Also ask whether the theme and plugins are licensed or pirated.

01 WooCommerce or a custom store?
Most of the stores we build run on WooCommerce, the shop plugin for WordPress. It suits shops with up to a few thousand products, hosting is affordable, and staff can learn the order screen in an afternoon. For businesses with unusual needs, such as dealer pricing, many vendors or a link to existing inventory software, we build a custom store with Laravel instead.
We help you decide based on your product count, how many orders you expect per day, who will manage the store and what you plan to add over the next year or two. We do not push one platform for every project.
02 Moving from a Facebook page to your own store
Many sellers start on Facebook and Instagram, and that is a sensible way to test products. The problems appear as orders grow: messages get missed, stock is tracked in a notebook, and every customer asks the same questions about size and delivery charge. A website gives buyers a catalogue they can browse on their own, and gives you an order list instead of a chat history.
You do not have to leave social media. Most sellers keep posting on Facebook and send that traffic to product pages on the store. With the Meta Pixel and Conversions API in place, your Facebook ads can then reach people who viewed a product or left something in the cart.
03 Why the cheapest quote can cost more
A low-cost store built on a pirated theme with dozens of plugins can look fine on the first day. The costs show up later: slow pages, a checkout that breaks after an update, and hours lost fixing orders by hand. When you compare quotes, compare what is included, such as testing, training, backups and support after launch, not only the headline price.
If your current store gets visitors but few orders, the problem may be the checkout, the product pages or the traffic itself. Our article on website traffic but no customers walks through how to find out which.
04 Getting buyers to the store: SEO and ads
A new store does not get visitors on its own. Most sellers use a mix of search and paid ads, and the store should be ready for both from launch day.
- Search: category pages and product pages written around what people actually search, such as "cotton panjabi" or "baby diaper price". Our ecommerce SEO service covers this work after launch.
- Google Ads: Shopping and search ads bring buyers who are already looking for a product. Conversion tracking must be set up first, or you cannot tell which ads lead to orders.
- Facebook and TikTok ads: good for new products and impulse buys. Short product videos usually do better than still photos, which our video ads editing service can help with.
Each of these works better when product pages load fast and the checkout is short, which is why we plan the store and the marketing together.
05 Our ecommerce development process
A typical WooCommerce store takes 4 to 8 weeks from planning to launch. Custom Laravel stores usually take 8 to 14 weeks. These are the stages:
- Planning: we go through your products, prices, delivery areas and charges, payment methods and courier, and agree on a written scope.
- Design: we design the home page, a category page, a product page and the checkout for mobile and desktop. You approve them before development starts.
- Build: we develop the store, import products, connect payment gateways, delivery charges and courier links, and set up tracking.
- Testing: we place test orders with every payment method, check emails and SMS, and test on several phones and browsers.
- Launch and training: we connect the domain, submit the sitemap to Google Search Console and show your team how to process orders, update stock and add products.
06 Support after launch
A store needs regular care. WordPress, WooCommerce and payment plugins release updates, gateways change their requirements, and traffic jumps during Eid, Pohela Boishakh or a big sale.
After launch we fix any issues found in the first weeks, and we offer a monthly maintenance plan for stores that want ongoing help. It covers tested updates, backups, uptime checks, small changes and help preparing for busy sale periods. You can also manage the store yourself, and we will show you what to watch.
