The brief
Families in Bangladesh buy the same packaged items every month: atta, sugar, salt, oil, milk powder, noodles and tea. They want the whole list in one order, fair prices and packs with a long expiry date. Shops and offices also buy in larger amounts. The store had to make a monthly bazar quick, in Bangla.
What we built
- Bangla interface from top to checkout, with prices in Bangla numerals.
- Six categories for flour and semolina, sugar and salt, cooking oil, yogurt and milk, snacks and noodles, and tea and vermicelli.
- Today's offer shelf with stock limited deals and a first order discount code.
- Three step order guide: pick products, choose district and upazila for the address, pay on delivery.
- Product pages with use and storage notes and an FAQ on expiry dates, damaged packs and wholesale orders.
How it was built
Deshi runs on WordPress with WooCommerce and our own Deshi theme, with all store text in Bangla. The colours are a strong red with yellow cart buttons on white, a look that reads like a busy local grocery. Lexend and Hind Siliguri keep English and Bangla text clear. Pages stay light for quick loading on mobile data.
The result
