"How much should I spend on Google Ads?" is one of the first questions small business owners in Bangladesh ask, and the honest answer is that it depends. But "it depends" is not useful when you are deciding whether to put BDT 10,000 or BDT 50,000 into a test. This guide breaks down the Google Ads cost for small business owners into parts you can actually plan around.

You will learn how Google charges you, what clicks tend to cost in different industries here, how to work out a starting budget from the number of leads you want, which costs sit outside the ad spend, and how to bring costs down without cutting results.

How Google Ads cost is calculated

Google Ads has no fixed price and no minimum spend. You set a daily budget, and you pay when someone clicks your ad on the search network. The price of each click is decided in an auction every time someone searches.

Three things decide what you pay per click:

  • Competition: How many other advertisers want the same search term and how much they are willing to pay.
  • Quality: How relevant your ad and landing page are to the search. Google rewards relevant ads with better positions at a lower cost, measured partly through Quality Score.
  • Your bid strategy: Whether you set bids yourself or let Google bid automatically for clicks or conversions.

On any single day, Google may spend up to twice your daily budget if traffic is high. Over a month, it will not charge more than about 30.4 times your daily budget. So a daily budget of BDT 1,000 means a monthly limit of roughly BDT 30,400. This is useful to know when you plan cash flow.

What clicks tend to cost in Bangladesh

Click prices change with season, location and competition, so treat the table below as rough guidance from campaigns we have seen, not a price list. Your own account may land above or below these ranges.

Type of businessTypical cost per click rangeNotes
Local food, bakery, small retailLow, often under BDT 20Fewer advertisers bid on these searches
Online fashion, gadgets, home goodsLow to medium, often BDT 10 to 40Rises sharply before Eid and other sale seasons
Coaching, tuition, training coursesMedium, often BDT 15 to 50Peaks during admission periods
Clinics, diagnostics, dental careMediumLocation targeting matters a lot
Study abroad, visa consultancy, real estateHigh, can go well above BDT 50Many competitors, high value per customer
Targeting customers outside BangladeshOften many times higherFor example, IT services aimed at the US or UK

A higher click price is not automatically bad. A study abroad agency might pay much more per click than a bakery, but one new student can be worth a large amount, so the maths can still work.

How to work out a starting budget

Instead of picking a random number, work backwards from the results you want. You need three rough figures: expected cost per click, the share of clicks that turn into leads, and how many leads you want each month.

Here is a worked example for a coaching centre in Chattogram:

  • Target: 60 admission inquiries a month.
  • Expected cost per click: about BDT 20.
  • Expected conversion rate from landing page: about 5 percent, meaning 5 inquiries per 100 clicks.
  • Cost per inquiry: BDT 20 divided by 0.05, which is BDT 400.
  • Monthly budget: 60 inquiries times BDT 400, which is about BDT 24,000.

Your real numbers will differ, and the first month is about finding them. The point is that the budget is linked to an outcome, so you can judge it properly. Your Google Ads cost only makes sense next to what a customer is worth to you, so check that before you start. If an admission brings BDT 8,000 in fees and one in four inquiries enrols, each inquiry is worth about BDT 2,000, so paying BDT 400 per inquiry makes sense.

Also make sure the budget buys enough clicks to learn from. If your budget only covers 50 clicks a month, a few lucky or unlucky days will swing your results, and you cannot tell what works. In our experience, a few hundred clicks a month is a more useful minimum for a test.

Typical monthly budget levels for small businesses

These ranges are a starting point for planning ad spend only, not counting management or website costs.

LevelRough monthly ad spendWho it suits
Small testBDT 10,000 to 20,000Local service business testing one or two services in one area
Steady local campaignsBDT 20,000 to 60,000Clinics, coaching centres, repair services covering a city or several districts
Growth or competitiveBDT 60,000 and aboveOnline shops with many products, consultancies, real estate

It is better to run one well-built campaign on a small budget than five thin campaigns that each get a few clicks a day. Start narrow, prove it works, then add services or locations.

Costs beyond the ad spend

The amount Google charges is only part of the picture. Plan for these too:

  • Management: If you hire an agency or freelancer, expect either a flat monthly fee or a percentage of ad spend. Ask exactly what is included: setup, keyword work, weekly changes, reports.
  • Landing page: Sending ads to a slow or generic homepage wastes clicks. A focused page per service may need a one-time design cost. A custom landing page often pays for itself if it lifts conversions even slightly.
  • Tracking setup: Conversion tracking is free to use, but setting it up correctly takes time or developer help.
  • Payment charges: Depending on how you pay, your bank may add card or currency charges, and tax may apply on the invoice. Check your statements for the real total.
  • Video: If you also plan YouTube ads, budget for short videos made for ads, not reused TV or Facebook clips.

What pushes your Google Ads cost up or down

  • Keyword intent: "AC repair service near me" costs more per click than "how does an AC work", but it is far more likely to bring a customer.
  • Match types: Broad match without negative keywords can show your ad for loosely related searches. Phrase and exact match give more control on small budgets.
  • Location: Targeting the whole country when you only serve one city wastes money. Use a radius or specific districts.
  • Schedule: If nobody answers the phone after 9 pm, consider pausing call-focused ads at night.
  • Network settings: New search campaigns may include the Display Network and search partners by default. For a tight budget, start with Google Search only.
  • Landing page: A page that converts at 8 percent instead of 3 percent cuts your cost per lead by more than half, with the same click prices.
  • Season: Clicks get more expensive around Eid, Black Friday style sales and admission periods, so plan budget increases early.

Ways to spend less without losing results

  1. Add negative keywords from day one, such as free, job, salary, PDF, course and training, unless those words fit your business.
  2. Review the search terms report every week and block irrelevant searches.
  3. Write ads that mention price or minimum order so people who will not buy do not click.
  4. Turn off auto-applied recommendations, or review them before they change your account.
  5. Use conversion-based bidding only after tracking is correct and you have some conversion history.
  6. Give each campaign at least two to four weeks before major changes. Stopping after three days usually means you paid for learning and then threw it away.

Our article on Google Ads conversion tracking explains the setup that makes these decisions possible. If you are still deciding between paid and organic, the comparison in SEO vs Google Ads may help. Google also explains billing and budgets in the Google Ads Help Centre.

FAQ

Is there a minimum budget for Google Ads in Bangladesh?

Google does not set a minimum. In practice, a budget that buys only a handful of clicks a day makes it hard to learn anything. For most local businesses, a test of BDT 10,000 to 20,000 over a month is a more realistic starting point.

Can I run Google Ads with BDT 5,000 a month?

You can, but keep it very focused: one service, one location, exact and phrase match keywords, and a strong landing page. Expect slow learning and limited data.

How soon will I see results?

Clicks start within hours of approval. Reliable data on cost per lead usually takes two to four weeks, and a well-tuned account often takes two to three months.

Should I pay a management fee as a percentage of spend?

Both percentage and flat fees can be fair. What matters is that the fee covers real work each week and that you keep ownership of your Google Ads account and data.
